ORANGE COUNTY CANVASSING BOARD

PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE FOR THE 2024 GENERAL ELECTION

The 2024 Orange County Canvassing Board will meet at the office of the Supervisor of Elections, 119 W. Kaley Street, Orlando, FL at the dates and times set forth below for the purpose of canvassing the November 5, 2024, General Election. The members of the Canvassing Board are Chair Judge Bigney, County Commissioner Gomez Cordero, and Supervisor Gilzean. Alternates are County Commissioner Moore, Judge S. Jewett, and Judge Duckworth.

The times and dates of Canvassing Board meetings, as well as any amendments to the Canvassing Board schedule and agenda, will be posted online at the Orange County Supervisor of Elections website at www.ocfelections.gov.

 

Monday, October 14, 2024

9:00 A.M.

The Canvassing Board to witness the Logic & Accuracy Testing of the voting and tabulating equipment to be used for Vote-by-Mail, Early Voting, and Election Day.

Monday, October 21, 2024

2:00 P.M.

The Canvassing Board will convene for the canvassing of Vote-by-Mail Ballots. *

Monday, October 28, 2024

2:00 P.M.

The Canvassing Board will convene for the canvassing of Vote-by-Mail Ballots. *

Monday, November 4, 2024

2:00 P.M.

The Canvassing Board will convene for the canvassing of Vote-by-Mail Ballots. *

Tuesday, November 5, 2024

4:00 P.M.

The Canvassing Board will convene for the canvassing of Vote-by-Mail Ballots. *

The Canvassing Board will also oversee the returns of Election results.

Friday, November 8, 2024

9:00 A.M.

The Canvassing Board will convene to:

  • canvass any provisional ballots, duplicated ballots, or any other ballot issues or relevant matters,

  • canvass and prepare the first set of Unofficial Results to report to the State (due by

    noon, November 9th) pursuant to § 102.141, F.S.,

  • order recount(s) for any local races, if necessary,

  • discuss potential recount(s) for any state, federal, or multicounty races

  • select the race and precinct(s) for any Post-Election Manual or Automated Audit, if no recount is ordered,

  • handle any other matters related to the General Election.

If a recount(s) is necessary for a local contest, the date(s) and time(s) of such recounts will be specified at this meeting and will be posted on the Supervisor of Elections website. If a recount(s) is ordered by the State, the date(s)/ times(s) will be posted on the Supervisor of Election website.

Saturday, November 9, 2024 12:00 P.M. until conclusion (If needed)

If a recount(s) has been ordered, the Canvassing Board will witness the Logic & Accuracy Testing of the voting and tabulating equipment to be used for the machine recount and will then conduct the recount(s). If the results of the machine recount trigger a manual recount, the Canvassing Board will order such manual recount for any local races and will conduct the manual recount for any state, federal, or multicounty races.

Under § 102.141, F.S., the deadline to complete machine/manual recount(s), if ordered, and report second set of Unofficial Results (only if a recount was conducted) is Thursday, November 14, 2024, by 3:00 P.M.

Friday, November 15, 2024

1:30 P.M.

The Canvassing Board will convene to:

  • canvass and tabulate any remaining overseas and military vote-by-mail ballots*,

  • certify official election results (due by noon, November 18th).

The Canvassing Board will conduct and complete the Post-Election Audit, unless a

manual recount was conducted. **

Deadline for County Canvassing Board to submit Official Results to the State by noon pursuant to §102.112, F.S. The Canvassing Board will only convene if necessary and will post any meeting time online at www.ocfelections.gov.

Sunday, December 15, 2024

Deadline to provide a report with the results of the Post-Election Audit, if a recount was not conducted, to the State of Florida, Department of State.

 

* The canvassing of any ballots includes the review and determination, as necessary, of any challenges, ballot duplication issues, voter intent, or other ballot issues requiring Canvassing Board consideration/review. Additionally, the Canvassing Board may also discuss, review, and handle any other matters pertaining to the 2024 General Election.

** If a recount is conducted, then the independent machine/manual audit on November 15, 2024, will not be needed. In accordance with the Sunshine Law of Florida, all meetings will be open to the public.

Note: Section 286.0105, Florida Statutes, states that if a person decides to appeal any decision by a board, agency, or commission with respect to any matter considered at a meeting or hearing, he or she will need a record of the proceedings, and that, for such purpose, he or she may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), if any person with a disability, as defined by the ADA, needs special accommodation to participate in this proceeding, then not later than two business days prior to the proceeding, he or she should contact the Supervisor of Elections Office at 407-836-2070.
