Adopt-A-Precinct

The Adopt-A-Precinct (AAP) program is a community partnership that began in 1998. It offers organizations a unique opportunity to serve their community, raise funds, and strengthen teamwork.

Participating organizations “adopt” one or more precincts during an election by supplying the staff needed to run those polling places. Rather than paying individual poll workers, the Supervisor of Elections provides a payment to the organization—supporting local initiatives like scholarships, school programs, civic projects, and community outreach.

On average, an organization can earn up to $2,125 per adopted precinct, per election, starting in 2022. Your organization can earn more by recruiting back-up workers that can be sent to other precincts as needed.

Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. are two of our veteran partners. Over the years, Zeta Phi Beta has adopted precincts in 19 elections, and Phi Beta Sigma has adopted precincts in 14 elections. In 2022, they earned over $42,000 by staffing many precincts in three countywide elections. The funds they raise go toward college scholarships awarded to students every summer.

In 2022, over $336,735 was paid out to Adopt-A-Precinct groups over the three countywide elections.
