Empowering Voters, Enhancing Access: A Milestone in Electoral Transparency and Innovation
Orange County, FL (October 2, 2024) – The Orange County Supervisor of Elections office dropped off more than 110,000 vote-by-mail ballots at the United States Postal Service facility in Orlando on Wednesday for the first mailing of domestic vote-by-mail ballots of the November General Election.
As of Wednesday, October 2, the Orange County Supervisor of Elections Office has received 134,757 requests for vote-by-mail ballots for the General Election.
The office will continue to mail out ballots over the next few weeks as more requests come into the office.
“Our amazing team has been working extremely hard to make sure every voter who wants the option to vote-by-mail receives their ballot with enough time to review both pages, front and back,” said Orange County Supervisor of Elections Glen Gilzean. “Vote-by-mail is just one of the three ways we ensure every Orange County voter can make their voice heard in November including 22 early voting locations and more than 215 election day precincts.”
Voters have until 5 PM on Thursday, October 24, to request a vote-by-mail ballot for the General Election.
The Orange County Supervisor of Elections office also encourages voters to sign up for Ballot-Trax. Ballot-Trax is a free service that lets voters see the progress of their vote-by-mail ballot and get notified (via text or email) of the status of their vote-by-mail ballot, from when it's printed to when it's accepted.
While overall requests for vote-by-mail ballots have increased in the last three months, the numbers are still well behind where they were for the General Election in 2022 (214,555).
Vote-by-mail requests expire after each federal general election cycle. Therefore, all vote-by-mail requests expired on December 31, 2022.
